Summer Camp FAQ
Our Summer Camp is split into 4 different age groups. Please register your camper based on the grade they will be entering in the fall.
Discovery Camp is for rising Kindergarten – 1st graders.
Explorer Camp is for rising 2nd – 3rd graders.
Voyager Camp is for rising 4th-5th graders.
Adventure Camp is for rising 6th-8th graders.
Our average group size is 20 campers. This means that if Discovery Camp has 100 campers, they would be split into 5 separate groups.
Our staff to camper ratio is 1:20. In addition to our staff members, we have teen leaders who assist our staff through our Leadership Program making our ratios 1:5 for kindergarten – 3rd grade, 1:7 for 4th-5th grade, and 1:10 for 6th-8th grade.
Unfortunately, due to the number of campers we see throughout the summer, we are unable to accommodate requests for a specific group or counselor. We do our best to group campers with other students in their age group who attend the same school.
If your camper has friends in another group of the same age level, they will have opportunity to see each other throughout the day as groups sometimes play games together and eat lunch at the same time. If your child is registered for Extended Day, they will be able to see everyone in their age group during that time as well.
Yes, we do our best to keep campers in the same group with the same staff member every week they are registered for camp.
A typical day at camp includes indoor and outdoor play, craft, STEM, team building activities, and group games. Please see below for a sample schedule:

We kindly request that campers bring lunch from home each day as lunch is not provided. We do, however, provide breakfast to all campers and campers enrolled in extended day are provided an afternoon snack.
Each day your child should bring a lunch, water bottle, closed-toed shoes, spray sunscreen, and extra change of clothes. Everything you send with your child should be clearly labeled with your child’s name on it. On Field Trip days, your child will need to wear their field trip shirt. If your child forgets their field trip shirt, one will be provided to them at a cost of $15. We kindly ask that all toys and electronics be left at home as your child will not need them.
Water Day includes outdoor water play with water balloons and an inflatable slip-n-slide on-site.
We recommend dropping your child off between 8:00am – 8:30am and pick up between 2:45pm – 3:00pm. Regular camp hours end at 3:00pm. If you need to pick your camper up earlier than 3:00pm you are welcome to do so. Campers enrolled in Extended Day may be picked up at anytime as long as it is no later than 6:00pm.
Note: On field trip days, our field trips typically arrive back to camp shortly before 3:00pm. Early pick up on these days may not be possible.
Yes, we have a Kiss & Go drop-off lane in front of our building on Irving Park Rd. The Kiss & Go is open from 8:00am – 9:30am each day that we have camp. We ask that all parents & guardians using the Kiss & Go stay in their car as our leaders will be available to walk your child into the building for you. If you would like to park and walk your child in, please use our parking lot or side streets.
We have a small parking lot off Irving Park Rd and Campbell directly behind our clubhouse building. We ask that families utilizing the parking lot proceed with kindness and caution when entering and leaving the parking lot for the safety of our children. If the parking lot is full, please feel free to find parking on the side streets off Campbell. We ask that parents refrain from parking on Irving Park Rd directly in front of our building until after 4:00pm.
Note: As a reminder, we do share the parking lot with Revere Park and their summer camp families while their camp is in session.
Most of our field trips use school buses for transportation. We do have one or two field trips in the neighborhood that we walk to.
Our chaperone to camper ratio on field trips is 1:5 for kindergarten-3rd, 1:7 for 4th-5th grade, and 1:10 for 6th-8th grade.
No additional fee is required for field trips as they are included in the cost of camp. If your child would like to bring money to purchase a snack or extra game credits on a field trip, we ask that you please notify their group leader at drop-off.
One field trip shirt is included with the cost of camp & given to your child on their first day of camp. Field trip shirts are required for each camper going on a field trip. If your child forgets their field trip shirt, one will be provided to them at a cost of $15.
All our staff receive CPR & First Aid training, mandated reporter training, sexual harassment training, and 3+ hours of childcare training through the Illinois Department of Human Services. Additionally, our staff attend trainings on social emotional learning and child abuse prevention.
Our team of staff is comprised of young adults from all walks of life ranging from college students to teachers who all have one thing in common: They enjoy working with kids and want to make an impact in their community.
In addition to our team of staff we have a group of about 95 teenagers in our Leadership Program that assist with our summer camp groups. They receive 8 weeks of training prior to working with our campers and participate in our programs year-round from helping with our after-care programs to helping referee for our athletic department.
